On this dark and dreary dismal day, (don't you just love alliteration) we decided to visit The Randall Museum.
http://www.randallmuseum.org/
It's a really cute little museum situated in a rally picturesque spot (if it wasn't so dismal) with great views of the city.
Inside they have various exhibits, the main theme being Earthquakes and we visited the following ones:
- The Toddler Treehouse - cute little room with building blocks, train table, books about farting dogs .
- The Animal Room - area that houses rabbits, guinea pigs, hens, turtles etc that the kids are allowed to go in and pet.
- The Theatre - we briefly looked in here, but thye had someone talking to the kids about different animals, it looked like the older kids were having fun, but T was too boisterous.
- The Earthquake Shack, a lifesiz replica of the shacks built to house families after the 1906 earthquake and subsequent fires. T rocked out in the little rocking chair and tried to be a great little chambermaid by stripping the cot bed.
There were lots more to do and see, and the museum offers courses and classes in lots of different arts and crafts. It will be a great place to take Little T as he grows. I think it is geared more for kids 2-3+ but we definately had a great time and will be sure to put it in our rotation of places we visit regularly.
